A lovely early-1900s sterling silver dance purse (also called a compact purse or vanity case) with its original wrist chain — made to be carried at the wrist for an evening out, with a full vanity set fitted into a compact engine-turned case.

• Fine linear engine-turned finish on front and back
• Diamond-shaped cartouche with a script monogram (appears to be "D")
• Twin lidded compartments with guilloché sterling covers (powder & rouge)
• Beveled mirror
• Slotted card holder with a pierced trefoil lift-tab
• Includes an original period calling card engraved in Old English blackletter — a charming one-of-a-kind touch

Condition

• Very good antique condition
• Warm aged patina and light tarnish throughout; will polish brighter if preferred
• Surface scratches and a few small dings consistent with a century of use
• Engine-turning still crisp, monogram sharp
• Small (1") dent on the front of the compact, just to the bottom-right of the monogram
• A couple small dents on the back of the compact that are hard to photograph. I did my best, please check the photos carefully. Pay attention to how the light bends on the surface.
