Antique Sterling Silver Collar Cut Glass Scent Perfume Bottle Hallmarked c1915
Description
Antique English cut glass scent bottle with a hallmarked sterling silver collar and a faceted glass ball stopper. It’s an elegant dressing table piece from the early 20th century.
The bottle is hand cut with vertical bands of notched prisms alternating with fan and starburst motifs, and it flares gently to a wide base for stability. The stopper is cut with multiple facets and catches the light beautifully.
Hallmarks on the silver collar:
- Lion passant: the English sterling silver mark, so the collar is solid silver, not plated
- Lowercase “t” date letter
- Town (assay office) mark, which is worn. Depending on the office, the “t” dates the collar to between about 1911 and 1918, during the reign of George V.
- Maker’s mark “HP&S” in a scrolled cartouche
