This is an uncommon San Francisco newspaper from the Gold rush days. THE WIDE WEST was published from 1853 to 1858. It\'s publisher was W W Kurtz; Charles Capp was the editor. It was a bi-weekly and it was designed to capture life in California and promote this lifestyle to the Eastern US markets. It was very well read and had all the sailings and main stories of the day and a healthy list of early SF advertisers. It is 4 pages. Open, the newspaper measures 42\" X 28\".
