Offering an antique gold-filled c-clasp brooch depicting St. Jeanne d'Arc of France, accompanied by floral motifs on each side. The reverse has a banner and a sword.
Signed "TAIRAC" on the front and "FIX" on the back.
Jeanne d'Arc was a French peasant girl and heroine whose actions famously marked the turning point of the 100 Years War between the French and the English. Having reportedly received divine guidance, she bolstered French morale and brought about the coronation ofCharles VII, which in turn eventually led to French victory. Tragically she was captured and executed by the English before the end of the war on politically-driven accusations of witchcraft and heresy. Her name was later cleared by the church after the war's end, and in 1920 she was officially canonized as a saint.
