Antique SUPER RARE L.T. Piver Miro-Dena Face Powder Box ~1905 Art Nouveau:
$125.00

Antique L.T. Piver Floramye Face Powder Box – Paris, France – Circa 1905–1910

A wonderful survivor from the early days of commercial cosmetics and French perfumery.

This is an exceedingly rare box. It is the most difficult to find of all PIVER powder boxes.

This antique Floramye face powder box was produced by L.T. Piver of Paris, one of France’s historic perfume and cosmetics houses. Floramye was one of Piver’s important early fragrance and toiletry lines, with face powder offered in a variety of shades.

The bottom of this example retains its original “BRUNETTE” shade label.

The square box is made of paper-covered cardboard and features beautiful Art Nouveau graphics in muted coral, green and gold tones. The lid depicts a fashionable woman surrounded by the flowing, sinuous ornament characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. Matching stylized decoration continues around the sides of the box.

Approximate measurements:

2.75” square

1 1/8” tall

Condition:

This box is approximately 115–120 years old and shows considerable age and use. The printed decoration is faded and worn, with substantial edge wear, paper loss, scuffing, discoloration and deterioration to portions of the cardboard and interior paper lining. There is writing on the interior and underside, and remnants/residue from the original powder remain.

Despite its condition, the Floramye name, woman’s portrait and much of the elaborate Art Nouveau decoration remain visible, and the original BRUNETTE shade label survives on the underside.

Please examine all photographs carefully for condition. Offered exactly as found and shown.

An interesting early piece for collectors of antique cosmetics, French perfume memorabilia, L.T. Piver, Art Nouveau advertising and packaging, vanity items or turn-of-the-century ephemera.
