Antique Russian Orthodox Painted Wood Icon Virgin Mother of God Korsun 18th C. For Sale

A very fine 18th C. Russian ikon of Mother of God Korsun done in typical tempera paint over linen on a thick, single plank wood panel. Painting is very well rendered and both the detail and color are just spectacular! Very good condition considering age and comparing against other examples from this period. It shows typical craquelure, scattered small areas of paint loss, light toning, wear from handling, scattered losses at panel edges from age, etc. Please see all photos for condition. This is a grand item that is sure to be one of the highlights of your religious collection!
