One of the "hard-to-find" Mortens Studio dog figurines, this sweet Pug dog is in good condition with some crazing and slight flaking of paint in some areas. Please see photos for further detail of description.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
A "must-have" for any collector of Mortens Studio dogs, and a unique and beautiful gift for any dog lover, this standing Pug dog stands 4 1/4" tall x 5 1/4"long x 2 1/4" wide.
He is clearly marked on his underside and also has a foil label on his right side.
