Antique Royal Canadian Regiment VRI Uniform Button
Original Canadian military uniform button featuring the VRI (Victoria Regina Imperatrix) cypher beneath the distinctive crown associated with early Royal Canadian Regiment insignia.
The Royal Canadian Regiment was authorized to use Queen Victoria's VRI cypher in the 1890s, and the regiment was later granted the right to retain the VRI cypher permanently.
Original antique Royal Canadian Regiment VRI uniform button in good condition for its age. Front retains strong raised crown and VRI detail with attractive aged gilt/brass patina and expected surface wear, discoloration and light marks from age and use. Rear shank/loop is intact but noticeably bent to one side; it has not been straightened. Reverse is clearly maker marked “HAWKES & CO. PICCADILLY LONDON.” Measures approximately 7/8 inch (22 mm) in diameter. Please review all photos closely for exact condition.
