Early paper advertisement C. 1910ish for Tompkins Real Wild West Traveling Show
Printed by Erie Litho Company
Measures 14” x 19” - the paper is very old, so very fragile (it’s not falling apart or anything but it the wind hits it, probably will tear). Originally there was a second half to the poster, and had a printed poster on the back basically the size of an open newspaper of the era. Only other example I could find was a complete one in the Library of Congress - same graphic just a different boarder due to different printers they used as they traveled
The show included aerial wire and acrobatic acts, trick bicycle riding, and trained animals acts. His was a mix of Wild West Show and European circus. Tompkins was also a good friend of a vaudeville performer, humorist, and social commentator Will Rogers.
Fantastic extremely well preserved lithograph advertisement
