Antique Qing era Chinese Carved Amethyst bottle with Stopper – 4" For Sale

This is a really cool snuff bottle, handmade between 1880 and 1912. It is carved from a single amethyst gemstone, and meticulously hollowed out through the tiny opening in the neck, to create a large area in which to store snuff. These took literally months to make!It is an incredible piece and very difficult to find anywhere.That said, a crystal leaf on the bottle appears to be broken. It is on one side only, and does not hinder the quality of its display. Price has been adjusted to reflect this flaw.The theme is birds and leaves, a common choice, representing prosperity and long life.The stopper is a bird perched on a limb which also holds a small orb.Absolutely fabulous.
