Antique Postcard U.S.S. OREGON, American Battleship into Service 1896, RPPC For Sale

The U.S.S. Oregon was built in the 1890s and entered service in 1896, taking part in various conflicts of the Spanish-American War. She was decommissioned in 1906 and placed in reserve where she was modernized. This grand old battleship, one of the first modern bat6tleships of the American fleet, was then reactivated in 1911, going in and out of service until she was decommissioned in 1919. Because this postcard has a divided back that dates it to the period after the U.S.S. Oregon was reactivated. Although this is a new, unused postcard, it shows its age, and while it is in good condition, it is not in pristine condition. The images I have posted are scans and should show any flaws. The wonderful antique U.S.S. Oregon postcard is, however, from the estate of the daughter of a Seward, Nebraska sailor who served in the U.S. Navy during World War I, so he may have seen duty on this ship. At any rate, the family felt this postcard was important to preserve.
