The image shows a gallery of intricate, ornate clocks carved from wood by brothersFrank and Joseph Bily. The brothers were farmers and carpenters who spent their winters creating these massive, detailed folk-art masterpieces. Their most famous works, which may be visible in various versions of these postcards, include the \"Apostle’s Clock\" and the \"American Pioneer Clock
The collection is housed at theBily Clocks Museumin Spillville, Iowa. Some older cards may also reference nearby Ridgeway, Iowa. Note, that this card DOES label the location as Ridgeway, meaning this would be an older example.
The text describes the work of Frank and Joseph Bily inRidgeway, Iowa. This is significant because the brothers eventually moved their collection to the nearby town ofSpillvillein 1946, where theBily Clocks Museumstands today. Postcards referencing \"Ridgeway\" are often from the period when they were still actively carving and displaying their work locally before the formal museum was established.
