Offering a beautiful matched pair of antique portrait photographs of two young siblings--a brother and a sister--rendered in black & white with artistic enhancements that give the added look of charcoal portraiture. They were framed by the historic & famed art establishment in Rochester, New York that operated in the late 19th to early 20th century called Searvogle Art Rooms.
Each child is approximately toddler age; definitely ages three(3) or under and were framed in matching ornate, oval gold wood frames in the original finish. Both are in very fine condition and beautifully preserved with no age toning or fading to the portraits. Each photo is framed with a light gray, oval mat that has a gold inner edge and when I had these hanging together in our early house in upstate NY, the inner gilt liners would catch the sunlight for brief times, similar to how the sunlight would catch the gilt imprints on the spines of old books.
The frame measurements are 20" tall by 17" wide. All the molded ornamentation on the frames is in very good condition with the exception of a small, shallow outer edge loss on the young boy at approx. 2 & 4-5 o'clock.
Both portraits retain the original backing paper, wires & hanging eyes, as well as the Gallery Stickers.

From the font & design used by the gallery on their sticker, I believe these portraits date to the Art Deco period of the 1920's through 1930's especially when it was at its peak in New York state.
This historic art gallery can be researched more deeply through the Monroe County Library of Rochester, NY, as I have discovered while researching the origin of these portraits.
