Original Philco Model 52 "Baby Grand" cathedral radio, introduced June 1932 — a compact five-tube AM superheterodyne, one of Philco's economy compacts of the era, built on Philco's Type 52 chassis. Solid wood cathedral cabinet with the classic arched top, fluted side pilasters, and the original engraved Philco dial escutcheon over a simple sliding-scale tuning dial. Chassis tag is legible inside: "Philco Radio, Superheterodyne, Chassis Type 52," made by the Philadelphia Storage Battery Co. Original Tung-Sol type 47 output tube is present along with the other internal components (transformer, chokes, and additional tubes visible in the chassis).
Condition: the front grille cloth has a torn section over the speaker opening (visible in photos), and the cabinet shows expected finish wear, scuffing, and dust from decades of age and storage. Electrically, the radio powers on, but the speaker produces a loud buzz rather than clean audio — almost certainly a speaker or output-stage issue, not evaluated further. Stands about 16" tall.
