Antique P. Hoppe Schiedam Holland Genever Gin Stoneware Jug
Up for sale is an authentic vintage stoneware gin jug from P. Hoppe of Schiedam, Holland — one of the oldest and most recognized genever (Dutch gin) distillers, established 1780. This jug is salt-glazed stoneware with a classic tan/ochre finish and a colorful paper label featuring the Hoppe crest, \"Distilled Genever Gin,\" and importer details for Van Munching Imports, Inc. of New York, sole U.S. importers. It is stamped 4/5 quart, 80 proof, distilled from grain, and includes the \"Federal Law Foroffers Sale or Reuse of This Bottle\" notice on the reverse — a detail that dates it to the post-Prohibition era.
The front label is bright and largely intact, showing the full Hoppe crest artwork; the neck label is more worn and partially torn, with impressed \"P. HOPPE SCHIEDAM HOLLAND\" lettering visible on the body beneath it.
Empty and sold strictly as a collectible display piece — a great addition to a barware collection, man cave, farmhouse or vintage kitchen decor, or genever/gin memorabilia collection.
