This is the antique, original 1895 glass negative + photo set of C.E. Bolles, considered the foremost marine photographer. If you google CE Bolles and Christies (the famed sale house), you will see his photos sell in a rage of 2000 to over 3000 USD a piece. Glass negatives are likely unattainable.
In 1920, Yachting Magazine bought most all of Bolles\' negatives, but they did not obtain this one, which is for sale here-- the America\'s Cup ewer glass negative, which remained stored in the Brown Bros. archive of New York City. The few remaining Bolles photos and negatives are with private collectors and/or the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
This glass negative and photo is an iconic duo to have, and in some ways priceless. It is difficult to put a value on it, and in the right international sale at a European or NYC house, it\'s hard to know what the pair might go for.
