Antique Hand Painted Nippon tea set in the sought-after Flying Geese pattern. This is a complete matched trio of teapot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer, all with original lids.
Each piece shows white geese in flight over marsh reeds and raised gold flowers on a soft matte aqua-teal ground. The rims are trimmed in raised gold beading set with tiny turquoise and red enamel “jewels.” The squared handles are fully gilt, and the tapered Art Nouveau forms make the set display beautifully as a group.
Marked on the base in green and red with the paulownia crest “Hand Painted NIPPON” backstamp, from the Nippon export era (1891–1921).
Approximate measurements: Teapot about 6" tall to the finial; sugar bowl about 5" tall; creamer about 4" tall. Please see the photos with the ruler.
Condition: Good antique condition for a piece around 100 years old. Gold wear is visible on the teapot spout rim and on the high points of the handles. There is discoloration to the gilt where the teapot handle meets the body (see photo). Small factory kiln specks and light surface grime are in the foot rings. Please view all photos closely, as they are part of the description. Sold as shown. Please feel free to ask any questions. No display stand is included.
A lovely piece for Nippon collectors, for a Japanese porcelain display, or for an elegant tea table.
Shipping: Each piece and lid is wrapped individually and packed with at least 2" of cushioning, shipped USPS Priority Mail with tracking.
