Antique Milk Glass (Opal Ware) Dresser or Vanity Box ~ Dithridge Company ~ 1890s
The Dithridge Company was a prominent American glass manufacturer particularly known for its production of milk glass operating from the late 19th century into the early 20th century.
This beautiful box was used to hold jewelry during the Victorian and Edwardian periods and was most likely a part of a set. The embossed scrollwork and floral accents are characteristic of the ornate aesthetic prevalent during that era, and the use of milk glass made these items both visually appealing and affordable to a broader market.
The box stands taller at the back and slopes to the front. Approximate measurements: 4" long x 3" wide. 1-12" tall on the back; 1-1/4" tall on the front.
There is a chip on the inside rim of the lid but no other cracks or chips. As would be expected, there is some paint loss. Please view the photos for a close look.
