CONDITION
Pre-owned antique/vintage condition with substantial age-related surface wear and patina. Copper finish shows tarnish, oxidation, discoloration, dark spotting, scratches and areas of finish/surface loss throughout. Silvery-colored areas are visible on the body and base and may be remnants of an older tinned finish. Old sticker/residue remains are present. Handle and long spout remain attached. Please review all photos closely as they are part of the condition description.
I would not clean or polish it further.
DESCRIPTION
Striking early 20th-century Middle Eastern-style copper ewer featuring a bulbous embossed body, elongated decorated neck, dramatic long pouring spout and tall looping handle. Incised and embossed geometric decoration surrounds the body and neck, with a beautifully aged copper patina developed over many years.
Measures approximately 12” tall x 7” wide and weighs 1 lb 14.1 oz. Piece is non-magnetic; construction and exposed metal are consistent with copper. The underside is hand-scratched “No. 39” or similar; its meaning is unknown. Maker and exact country of origin are unknown. Based on form and construction, estimated circa 1900–1930.
