Large 14¼ inches overall antique serrated bread knife by the Meriden Cutlery Company of West Meriden, Connecticut Est.1855. Its makers mark is faintly visible on the right side of the blade about 2\" from the handle: \"anvil logo, Meriden Cutlery Company\"contained within a rectangle with decorated ends.
Lovely carbon steel blade has a bold squiggly scalloped serration pattern and surface oxidation & age patina consistent with its 19th -early 20th century origin, and much use. The turned wood handle bears a 1-1/2\" split where it attaches to the blade via a rat-tail tang with a metal collar.
