Antique Mason’s Improved Maltese Hero Cross 1.75 Qt HFJ Co Glass Lid Zinc Band For Sale

A rare find! An early 1.75 quart size Mason’s Improved Canning Fruit Jar with the Maltese Hero Cross symbol from the Hero Fruit Jar Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 9” Tall jar is a unique and rare find as it also comes with its original Maltese hero cross glass insert lid embossed with the cross HFJ Co and words Mason‘s improved and is attached with its original zinc band. The glass insert has a number 3 on the back with a small flea bite on the inside rim. The zinc band has some oxidation but otherwise in great condition. The jar is light aqua blue in color with lots of bubbles embedded in the glass. Embossed on the front is the Hero Cross with a faint HFC above the Mason’s Improved wording and the PAT NOV 26 67 with a two digit 17 embossed on the bottom of the jar. It does have light roughness on the rim of the jar due to age and previous use. This would be an amazing piece to add to your mason jar collection!
