Stunning Antique Limoges D&C / White's Art Co. Hand-Painted Hexagonal Pitcher — 10" x 9" (Signed research ponts to it being signed by Bianche L Wight)
Up for sale is a spectacular, large-format antique French porcelain pitcher, standing an impressive 10 inches tall by 9 inches wide. This estate-fresh masterpiece perfectly bridges the gap between elite French manufacturing and historic American studio artistry. The Provenance & Care
This gorgeous piece was recently found at an estate sale in Southeast South Dakota. Coming out of a historic regional home, it was deeply cherished and incredibly well taken care of over the last century. It remains in exceptional antique condition and is completely free of chips or cracks. The Makers & Markings
- The Porcelain Blank: The bottom features the green underglaze factory mark for R. Delinieres & Co. (D&C) France, dating the porcelain production to 1894–1900.
- The Studio Decoration: It bears the rare, overglaze red triangular stamp for White's Art Co. Chicago, a highly collectible, short-lived decorating studio run by the White sisters (1914–1923).
Featuring Artist Signature: Bianche L. Wight
This pitcher is elegantly hand-signed by the artist near the upper handle attachment. research has led this to be the signature of Bianche L. Wight, a highly skilled professional decorator who worked within the elite circle of Chicago China painters.During the early 20th century, the finest decorators frequently moved between prominent regional rivals like Pickard China, Stouffer, and White's Art Co.. The Naturalistic currant berry Landscape on the pitcher is textbook for her artistic portfolio, her most famous published design layout from this era was a botanical study of California peppers and cascading vine berries-- matching the style, color, blending, and fruit cluster themes painted onto this piece. I have not been able to find other signed examples to compare it to, but this is where the research has led in this item.Design & Condition
The pitcher features beautiful, vibrant hand-painted berry clusters and leaves set against an Art Nouveau paneled background, heavily accented by bright gold gilding along its geometric ridges and scalloped rim.As expected with an authentic century-old heirloom, there is gilding wear on the handle consistent with age and handling, where human hands naturally held it over the decades. Please look closely at all the pictures provided, as they are a vital part of this pitcher's description.A Sign of True Quality
This piece is crafted from premium, authentic hard-paste French porcelain.
