This antique American-madepewter 5 Cup Coffee, Tea pot, was made by Leonard Reed & Barton, these originally were hand-finished and castin the United States in the 1830s, it is a rare and collectible piece for anyone interested in vintage kitchenware or American history. (Can You imagine the history of almost 200 years)
Standing at 10.5 inches tall,10.5\" Wide from handle to spout, this teapot showcases the craftsmanship and elegance of pewter, a material known for its durability and unique aesthetic.
With its historical significance and exquisite design, this piece would make a valuable addition to any collection or a charming display for a traditional or rustic- or victorian inspired displays or kitchens.
The piece is identified as being from Leonard Reed & Barton, a firm based in Taunton, MA, that operated under this specific name from 1835 to 1840. After 1840, the company continued as the well-known Reed & Barton. (Our Base reads Leonard Reed and Barton) This unit was made between 1835-40 which dates back around 190 years.
It features a distinctive paneled (octagonal) and footed body, typical of the Victorian era.
It is made from pewter (specifically Britannia metal), which is a stronger, lighter alloy developed in England in the 1700s.
Handle & Finial: The curved handle (Excellent condition) and top finial (small piece missing can easily be retouched with wood filler) it is made of ebonized wood or black-painted wood.
I\'ve decided to leave as I found, for being 190 years old she looks Marvelous and needs not a facelift but, you decide.
Cleaning an antique is a delicate decision. While many collectors prefer the original, centuries-old patina, light cleaning to remove surface grime can improve its display appeal. I did lightly wipe off with mild dish soap any dirt or dust and sanitized.
Collectors value the \"authentic patina\" and like to decide for themselves if they want to restore the shine. Avoid silver polish, which can damage the softer pewter.
See all Photos for any detailed description of any dents or \"character marks\" Body has 2 lite dents and the spout tiny bump at the tip, Lid and hinge work like new but, seriously it\'s in great antique condition, worth every penny for the right home.
The maker’s mark (also called a \"touchmark\") located on the underside of the base. Stamped \"Leonard, Reed And Barton\", with the # 5 for 5 Cup capacity and the Model # 3000 clearly visible.
Cleaned and Sanitized for you convenience, ships ready to use.
