Beautiful antique \"New Key of Heaven\" Catholic prayer book published by Benziger Brothers. This early 20th-century edition features the official First Communion and Confirmation service and bears a 1914 Imprimatur from John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York. Based on the movable feast calendar included within the book, this example was likely printed circa 1920.
The book is bound in black leather with gilt decoration and retains its attractive red page edges. A standout feature is the original devotional crucifix insert mounted inside the front cover, an element that adds both visual appeal and collectible value. The interior includes a detailed religious frontispiece illustration along with prayers, devotions, and religious instruction intended for Catholic children.
This example also retains an original handwritten ownership inscription for Clarence Willard Jerry Eberhardt of 2042 Fillmore Avenue, Buffalo, New York, providing a tangible connection to its early history and adding period character for collectors of antique religious books and ephemera.
Features include a likely circa 1920 printing, 1914 Imprimatur, Benziger Brothers publication, First Communion and Confirmation edition, black leather binding with gilt decoration, red page edges, original devotional crucifix insert, religious frontispiece illustration, handwritten Buffalo, New York ownership inscription, and compact pocket-sized format measuring approximately 4 inches tall by 2.75 inches wide.
A wonderful addition to a collection of antique Catholic books, religious memorabilia, church history items, devotional literature, or First Communion keepsakes.
