Antique KB&B Gutta Percha/Vulcanite Eagle Claw Estate Pipe w/Briar Bowl. This is a highly collectible antique figural tobacco pipe made by Kaufmann Bros. & Bondy. Its age is Circa 1890s - 1920s. The company had several locations but this pipe was most likely made on Grand Street in New York City. It's a full size pipe featuring a detailed dragon or eagle claw design gripping a textured briar wood bowl. The official KB&B clover leaf logo is stamped and visible on the stem, see image. The claw base and stem are crafted from antique gutta-percha/vulcanite (hardened natural rubber). The removable bowl is made of briar wood. The pipe has been gently surface dusted to preserve its authentic state, but I leave further cleaning to the buyer. The vulcanite claw and stem have developed a very dark brown patina/oxidation, which is naturally expected for a piece of this age. It has been unused and stored in a desk drawer for more than 60 years. The wooden bowl easily unscrews and the stem is fairly free of bite marks. It measures from bowl to mouth piece, 10.125", bowl opening is 1.063 (1-1/16th) in diameter.
