Beautiful antique Japanese Kutani porcelain 9-piece set, featuring elaborate hand-painted figural and floral decoration with extensive gold gilt accents.

The set includes:

* 6 scalloped figural dishes – approximately 5” diameter

* 3 scalloped deep bowls – approximately 3 1/2” diameter × 1 3/4” high

* 9 pieces total

The larger dishes feature detailed Japanese figural scenes surrounded by flowers, foliage, architectural elements and richly decorated iron-red borders. Extensive hand-applied gold detailing highlights the clothing, flowers and geometric designs.

The three smaller bowls coordinate beautifully with the dishes and feature iron-red and floral decoration with gold gilt accents. Their exteriors are also decorated with small Japanese motifs.

At least one piece bears a red 九谷 (Kutani) mark on the underside.

The porcelain, scalloped forms, decoration and Kutani marking are consistent with older Japanese export ware, likely dating to the late Meiji/Taishō to early 20th-century period. Exact age and individual kiln or artist have not been independently authenticated, so please review the photographs carefully.

Condition:

Antique pre-owned condition with age-related wear, including areas of wear/loss to the gold gilt and painted decoration, surface wear and other signs consistent with age and use. Please examine all photographs closely for condition, as they are an important part of the description.
