Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Boat Shaped Covered Dish Tureen Meiji 1900: $495.00
Stunning Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Boat-Shaped Covered Dish (Tureen / Koro)Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic Japanese Imari porcelain covered dish formed in a rare and elegant boat shape. This striking piece features traditional hand-molded and completely hand-painted underglaze cobalt blue patterns accented with vibrant overglaze iron red, crisp white panels, and delicate gold gilding throughout. Provenance & History:This exquisite piece belonged to my mother and was originally showcased in her antique store before it closed in 1995. It has been carefully stored in a private family collection ever since. Key Details & Authenticity: Era: Circa 1900 (Late Meiji to Early Taisho period). Origin: Crafted in Japan, featuring timeless asymmetric floral and scroll aesthetics. Workshop Tally Marks: The inner rim of the base features its original, hand-painted red iron-red workshop tally marks. These historical matching marks were painted on by the decorator circa 1900 to ensure this custom lid stayed paired with its exact matching base through the kiln firing process. Condition: Excellent antique condition. The porcelain shows beautiful vibrancy. The matching lid is completely intact and sits squarely on the vessel. There are no post-production chips, cracks, or flea bites on the porcelain rims. (Note: The small green felt floor pads on the bottom rim were added to protect furniture surfaces and can be easily removed by the buyer if desired). Craftsmanship Note: This piece features an authentic hand-crafted characteristic from its original manufacturing process: oneminor, smooth firing indentation (V-notch) on the outer rim edge right next to the workshop tally marks. This single mark is entirely original to the piece from production, completely smooth to the touch, and is a normal factory anomaly rather than a post-production chip or damage. Dimensions: Length (Bow to Stern):~ 9 3/4 inches Width (Widest Center Point):~ 6 3/8 inches Height (With Lid On): ~ 2 3/4 inchesShipping & Handling: We do our very best to describe each item honestly, and wealways pack with care.We usually ship in 1 day.Your package will be sent Priority Mail, fully insured with Signature Confirmation at delivery.
