Up for sale is a magnificent authentic antique Japanese cast iron hanging crescent moon lantern and planter (Tetsu tsuri dōrō), dating from the late Meiji to the Taisho era (circa late 19th to early 20th century). Crafted from thick, heavy cast iron, this piece beautifully exemplifies the timeless aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi.Design & Functionality:

• Crescent Form:Shaped like a dramatic crescent moon with a heavy-duty, integrated hanging loop at the top apex.
• Relief Motifs:The textured exterior features hand-cast, raised low-relief landscape motifs depicting traditional Japanese pavilions, mountain rocks, and water scenes.
• Interior Cup:The bottom interior includes a built-in cast reservoir cup, traditionally used to support an oil lamp insert or candle, allowing light to illuminate the open crescent shape. It is also historically utilized as a striking hanging vessel for hanging Ikebana floral arrangements.
