$165.00

Item: Antique "Jenny Lind" Historical Calabash Portrait FlaskClassification: McKearin GI-102 (Attributed to Whitney Glass Works, Glassboro, NJ)Era: Civil War Era / Mid-19th Century (Circa 1850–1865)Size: QuartColor: Aquamarine / Light Blue-GreenDesign Elements:
  • Obverse (Front): Features a crisp, high-relief embossed portrait bust of opera singer Jenny Lind ("The Swedish Nightingale") framed within a laurel wreath, with the arched text misspelled "JENY . LIND" above the bust.
  • Reverse (Back): Depicts an embossed glasshouse factory building with a prominent smoking chimney. Features the diagnostic 6-pointed star centered directly between the words "GLASS" and "FACTORY".
  • Base: Features an authentic, sharp, and crude open blowpipe pontil scar. This is a true period bottle, NOT a 20th-century smooth-base reproduction.
  • Lip: Applied broad sloping collar mouth / tapered collar.
Condition Report:
  • Damage: EXCELLENT structural condition. Absolutely NO chips, cracks, fissures, flakes, bruises, or lip/base damage. The embossed details remain very crisp with minimal high-point wear.
  • Glass Clarity: The bottle displays a beautiful, vibrant aqua color. There is some light, scattered interior haziness/faint iridescent mineralization primarily near the neck and upper throat area (typical of historic dug glass). It does not obscure the embossing or ruin the bottle's shelf display quality, but is mentioned for complete accuracy.
Please see the high-resolution macro photos to verify the pontil scar, mold features, and overall condition. An excellent addition to any historical American glass collection.Shipping: Will be packed with professional care (double-boxed with heavy bubble wrap) to ensure safe transit.
