Antique J.S. Holler / Adolph Blaich San Francisco 3-Blade Mother-of-Pearl Pocket Knife – c.1900

Antique three-blade gentleman’s pocket knife made in Germany by J.S. Holler & Co. and marked for Adolph Blaich, San Francisco, a noted San Francisco cutlery importer and dealer.

Measures approximately 3 1/2 inches closed and features genuine mother-of-pearl handle scales, metal bolsters and three folding blades. Tang markings include J.S. HOLLER & CO. / GERMANY and ADOLPH BLAICH / SAN FRANCISCO / RAZOR STEEL.

Based on the maker and retailer markings, this knife dates to approximately the turn of the 20th century, circa 1895–1906.

Condition: Antique condition with considerable age-related patina, oxidation, staining and surface wear to the blades and metal surfaces. One side retains its complete mother-of-pearl handle scales. On the opposite side, a large section of the original mother-of-pearl is missing, exposing the brass liner and original pin holes beneath. Two blades have good snap. The primary blade has slower/weaker snap but does close. No attempt has been made to clean, polish or restore the knife.

Please review all photographs carefully for the mother-of-pearl loss, blade condition, tang stamps and overall condition.

An interesting early J.S. Holler / Adolph Blaich San Francisco knife with desirable genuine mother-of-pearl handles and strong historical character. Nice find!
