This is an exquisite, genuine antique Italian miniature micro mosaic photo frame, likely dating to the 19th or early 20th century. This diminutive piece is a stunning example of the Florentine or Roman mosaic work popular during the Grand Tour era.
The frame features an intricate, vibrant floral design composed of hundreds of tiny, hand-set glass tesserae (or "tesserae"). The colorful pattern includes delicate red, white, blue, and pink flowers nestled amongst green foliage, set against a dark background, creating a dazzling and detailed effect. A border of pale blue and white tesserae outlines the central oval opening. Designed to stand on a flat surface, resting on its small feet. This frame is perfect for displaying a treasured miniature photograph, a locket of hair, or a tiny painting. It would make a magnificent addition to any collection of micro mosaic art, antique frames, or Grand Tour Micro Mosaic Photo Frame (Miniature/Tabletop)
