Antique Italian Linen & Figural Filet Lace Table Topper – Cherubs & Classical Scenes
This breathtaking antique Italian table topper features exquisite workmanship, blending crisp flax linen with highly detailed, hand-worked figural filet lace inserts. Measuring 33.5 inches in diameter, it is the perfect size for an accent table, a centerpiece overlay for a larger round dining table, or an elaborate vintage dresser scarf.
Design Details:
• Center Medallion: A large, intricately woven circular lace insert depicting whimsical cherubs (putti), floral vines, and classical chariots.
• Border Inserts: Elegant square panels featuring mythological or narrative classical hunting scenes, highlighting detailed figures, birds, and animals (including a stag/deer and a serpent).
• Outer Rim: Completed with a gorgeous scalloped lace edge.
Condition:
This heirloom piece has been exceptionally well-cared-for and remains in beautiful structural shape with lovely color consistency throughout.
• The lace border shows the original artisan's join point where the trim ends meet. This includes the expected hand-tying and securing threads typical of its handmade assembly, which is a natural construction characteristic and not a defect.
• You may notice an extremely faint, soft yellow storage shadow on the solid linen section from decades of careful storage. It is otherwise very clean, crisp, and completely free of any harsh odors.
