Beautiful antique Islamic Mamluk Revival octagonal jewelry/trinket chest, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1920), likely crafted in Damascus or Cairo.
This is a heavy, substantial brass piece featuring highly detailed, hand-engraved arabesques and traditional Damascene mixed-metalwork, intricately inlaid with silver and copper wire. The top of the lid features a central cartouche with elegant Arabic calligraphy.
The box features its original eight pointed cone feet on the base. The interior has been beautifully refurbished with a vibrant blue velvet lining and matching protective support ribbons to prevent the heavy lid from straining the antique hinges. The metalwork has a fantastic, untouched aged patina.
Perfect addition for collectors of Middle Eastern antiquities, Islamic art, or high-end vintage decor.
• Condition: Excellent, restored vintage condition. Solid, heavy, and structurally sound.
