Antique cast iron Boxer/Bulldog still bank attributed to Hubley Manufacturing Company, No. 826, dating to approximately the 1920s. This early American penny bank features a seated dog with upright ears, expressive face, and remnants of a red painted collar.
The No. 826 Dog Bank is a documented early Hubley design. This example retains a wonderful dark aged surface with traces of its original gold-toned and painted details.
Constructed in two cast iron halves with a visible center seam and coin slot running along the back of the head.
Measures 4.5 x 4 x 2 in.
Displays substantial age-related paint wear and loss, particularly to the facial details, along with oxidation, surface wear and patina consistent with its approximately 100-year age. The cast iron itself gives this piece loads of antique character. No repainting or restoration has been done.
