Thehand-painted Limogesdisplays two birds in flight painted over a soft pastel sky and meadow background, signed by the artist (A. Golse, or Abel Golse), and produced for Maison Londe in Limoges, France. The piece features a distinctive molded scalloped rim detailed with heavy raised gold gilding over an ochre border with blue scroll cartouches.
For it\'s age, the plate is in good vintage condition, with the exception of one chip and where some gold paint has rubbed off of in some high areas; see photos.
The stamps on the back confirm detailed history:
1. The Retailer / Decorator Stamp (Red Circle): This stamp reads \"MAISON LONDE / ABEL GOLSE / 7 Victor Hugo / LIMOGES\". Maison Londe was a high-end porcelain decoration workshop and retailer located at 7 Boulevard Victor Hugo in Limoges, France. The stamp also features the name Abel Golse, clarifying the identity of the artist \"A. Golse\" who hand-painted the bird scene on the front.
2. The Manufacturer Backstamp (Green Ribbon): The underglaze green mark reads \"LIMOGES / FRANCE\". This is the maker\'s mark belonging to the porcelain factory that manufactured the white porcelain blank before it was sold to Maison Londe for hand-decorating.
Together, these markings show a fully authenticated piece of antique Art Nouveau porcelain decorated by a known Limoges workshop.
