I am one of few USA sellers that carry European, antique German Halloween postcards, some dating before the Golden Years of postcards, which was roughly, 1905-1915. This postcard is from 1912. The artist is believed to be H. Hirsch, a German illustrator. The action on the card depicts Germany\'s Halloween, referred to as Wulpurgis Nights, or the Night of Witches. This card is highly collectible and will only go up in value, due to the detail and novelty. Wherelse have you seen a witch ride a black cat. This card features most of the Halloween icons, including black cats, bats, devils, witches, owls. crows. Witches ride brooms and carry two prong wooden pitchforks, while devils sit and watch all the entertainment.
Please refer to the URL’s below if you are interested in further research. The links detail the history of Brocken Mountain, the Brocken Hotel legacy and the meaning of Walpurgis Night. The area remains haunted and is now a German National Park.
Should you purchase one of these historical keepsakes, it will be shipped via USPS, first class, ASAP. It will be enclosed in a durable, hard-bodied mailer. Sorry, I do not ship outside the USA. If you have any questions, please drop me a line through messaging. Thank you, Dan
