Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic Hubley antique/vintage cast iron Boston Terrier dog doorstop, classic Hubley design #331. This piece features its original black and white hand-painted enamel finish with a gorgeous, naturally aged patina.
We are moving into a new home and simply do not have the right spot to display him anymore, so we are hoping he finds a wonderful new home with a fellow Boston Terrier lover or antique collector!
This doorstop has been thoroughly inspected for key Hubley authenticity markers:
• Hardware: Features the correct, original single-slot flathead joining screw on the back of the neck, seamlessly aged and painted over.
• Seams & Casting: The casting is incredibly smooth to the touch (not rough or pebbly like modern reproductions) with exceptionally tight, flush seams along the spine and underbelly.
• Markings: Includes an old hand written \"#11\" on the inner belly from a historic estate sale or sale lot.
This model is highly famous and was historically advertised as the \"Police Dog\" style Boston Terrier in old retail publications.
These were sand-cast factory pieces, then hand-finished/painted.
Measurements & Weight:
• Height: Approx. 10 inches (to the tips of the upright ears)
• Weight: Approx. 7 lbs
Excellent antique condition with honest, localized paint chipping, light surface oxidation, and wear consistent with age and authentic use as a doorstop. No cracks, breaks, or repairs to the iron. The halves align perfectly.
Please review all high-resolution photos to appreciate the wonderful character and original finish of this piece.
