Impressive antique German stoneware beer stein featuring an elaborate hunting scene with beautifully detailed raised designs and a rich green, cream, and brown glazed finish.
The stein showcases a woodland setting with deer, hunting dogs, and other wildlife surrounded by decorative foliage. One of its most distinctive features is the sculptural fox-shaped handle, which curves along the side of the stein.
The removable ceramic lid is topped with a three-dimensional hunter seated alongside his dog, adding to the exceptional character and craftsmanship of this piece.
Decorative German inscriptions appear around the lower portion of the stein, including “Die grüne Heid” and “Des Jägers Freud.”
The underside is marked Germany with the impressed mold number 1032, believed to associated with Matthias Girmscheid, but not confirmed.
Antique condition with visible age-related wear. Light crazing is present in areas of the glaze, along with some surface marks and discoloration. There is visible wear along the underside of the base and a small area of chipping along the rim of the lid. Please carefully review all photographs for additional details regarding condition.
