Auguste Moreau was the third son of the famous French Moreau dynasty of sculptors and painters. He began his artistic training with his older brother Mathurin under the guidance of his father Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He later moved to Paris to study at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts (College of Fine Arts). From 1861 to 1913 he exhibited regularly in the well-known "Salon de Paris". Unlike his brothers, who often created monumental or public sculptures, Auguste specialized in medium-sized decorative artwork.)His works are characterized by a keen penchant for genre scenes, pastorals, and allegories. He is famous worldwide for his graceful depictions of young women's nymphs and children playing. His figures feature flowing robes, organic lines, and fine floral details typical of French Art Nouveau
