Antique French WW1 Military Officer’s Kepi Hat – Third Republic – Garde Républicaine Style
An impressive antique French military officer’s kepi hat in the traditional style associated with the French Third Republic and First World War period.
Features a black rigid body, distinctive red and gold-coloured trim, an elaborate gilt-coloured front insignia, decorative metal chain and brass-coloured visor edging.
Historical Background:
The kepi was an iconic part of French military uniforms during the Third Republic (1870–1940), including the First World War (1914–1918).
Similar ceremonial designs were worn by French military and gendarmerie personnel, including the Garde Républicaine.
