Antique French Transferware Plate – “La Polka”

Beautiful mid-19th century French faience transferware plate featuring the titled dance scene “La Polka” with the inscription “Pas Bohémien en valsant” (Bohemian step while waltzing).
The central illustration depicts a Victorian-era couple in formal dress performing the polka, surrounded by an ornate Rococo-style border with floral cartouches and intricate lattice work. This piece was likely part of a French dance series popular during the height of the polka craze in Europe (1840s–1850s).
