This is a fabulous piece of antique (c1890) French floral fabric, likely a salesman\'s sample with the original tag intact. The fabric is a heavier weight cotton in very good condition (mild browning on a portion of the selvedge). The pattern is a classic French floral stripe (Rayure Fleurie) design. The size is 17x32\".
The color palette is very traditional for this period, using muted earth tones - mustard/ocher yellow, mossy olive green and deep brown-burgundy alongside a contrasting cornflower blue accent stripe. It is a beautiful fabric.
I am an avid collector of vintage and antique French fabrics and it\'s always slightly hard to part with these historic treasures. Fabulous as pillow covers, small upholstery projects or as some of my customers have shared, part of a slow stitch or journal creation. I have recently chosen to frame some of my very old French fabrics But whatever you choose to use fabric for, I\'m sure it will be stunning.
This is unwashed in as-found (good) condition.
Enjoy!

About Wildflower Studio: Welcome to Wildflower Studio, where you\'ll find vintage and collectible treasures, beautiful fabrics and embellishments, charming home decor pieces and a menagerie of other items I have collected during my treasure hunting trips. Having grown up on a farm in the Midwest, I\'m drawn to simple and natural items - I do love the worn and tattered look of old linens. I wonder what their story is and how I would use it - probably in some sort of sewing project. You\'ll find references to my mother in Wildflower Studio; sometimes scattered throughout the wrapped packages you receive, or perhaps as an element in junk journal supplies. Copies of pages from her Bible are on the back of some of my studio tags, complete with her notes and underlines; and pages from a beloved hymnal are a frequent addition to my packages. My mother was a gifted pianist and painter and most likely the reason that I love beautiful things. I hope you\'ll see a glimpse of her in my studio - Wildflower Studio.
