Beautiful vintage Florentine-style gilt trinket/keepsake box with an aged gold finish, raised decorative detailing, and a classical image on the lid.
Included with the box is an antique handwritten French letter dated 1772, making it a fascinating pre-French Revolution piece of ephemera.
According to the original seller, the letter relates to everyday business correspondence and includes a request for a shipment to be held off until summer. I have not personally had the letter professionally translated or authenticated, so this information is being passed along from the original listing.
The letter shows folds, toning, staining, edge wear, small tears/losses, and other age-related wear consistent with an old paper document. Please review all photos carefully for condition and details.
The box also shows age and wear throughout, including patina, discoloration, surface wear, small chips, and imperfections consistent with a vintage decorative piece.
