Original late 19th century stereoview card featuring a street scene in downtown Detroit, Michigan.
Published under the “American Scenery” series, the view shows an impressive commercial building with pedestrians in period dress and several identifiable storefronts, including Roehm & Wright Manufacturing Jewelers, and a millinery shop. Because the firm operated under the Roehm & Wright name only from 1872 until 1886, the image can be dated to that period. The card captures a detailed glimpse of everyday life and architecture during Detroit’s rapid growth in the late 1800s.
The front carries the title “Street View, Detroit.” Blank reverse.
A nice addition for collectors of Detroit history, Michigan photography, stereoviews, Victorian architecture, or early Americana.
Approximate size: Standard stereoview card (about 7 x 3½ inches).
Condition: Original card with age toning and light overall wear from age. Corners remain rounded with no writing on the reverse. Please review all photos for the best indication of condition.
