Antique Cranberry Glass Covered Relish Bowl w/EPS Fitted Framing & Spoon Hanger For Sale

This antique covered relish bowl with a cranberry-colored glass and EPS fitted framing is a perfect addition to any collector's kitchen or home. Its intricate pattern featuring daisies and acanthus leaves on the bowl and spoon is a testament to the attention to detail in its time period of manufacture between 1850-1899. This item is a must-have for anyone who appreciates antique style and quality craftsmanship.This dainty relish bowl or sauce bowl has a unique EPS (electroplated silver) frame that is fitted onto a cranberry glass bowl below it and it is permanent and cannot be removed. It has an arched wire carrying handle with a crest showing a daisy held up by two acanthus leaves on either side of it. The wire handle joins the fitting that encircles the bowl and it is supported by acanthus leaves on either side of it. On top of the rim is some bead work and bead work is found where the fitting meets the glass bowl too a classic pattern on Victorian tableware. The lid on this dainty marvel shows a wreath made of curled acanthus leaves joined in the middle and the wreath rests on a cluster of acanthus leaves as well and there is some more bead work around the top of the lid and the lid is secure and doesn't wiggle making it airtight. There is also a notch on the right side of the wire carrying handle that holds a small spoon with a round deep scoop to spoon some relish from the bowl onto crackers or foods that require relish or sauces. The spoon is sterling silver and marked "STERLING by WILLIAM ROGERS" authenticating the spoon as sterling silver and the maker of the spoon as well. The handle on the spoon has a daisy blossom on the end of it also showing buds, stems, and leaves on it too below this is a smaller daisy and the spoon continues down to the scoop with some folate pattern showing on it. The cranberry glass bowl is hand blown by a glass blower of the time period making this bowl colorful and cranberry glass was the sign of the times in Victorian England and can be found on numerous tableware pieces up until even today.
Greek acanthus leaves also symbolize enduring life and immortality. The spoon is a replacement as the original one was probably discarded over time.
