An attractive antique Continental European hand-painted porcelain snuff box or tabatière, probably dating from the late 18th to early 19th century.The oval porcelain box is decorated in cobalt blue, white and gilt, with delicate hand-painted floral sprays and scrolling gilt decoration. The lid features an elaborate intertwined gilt personal monogram or cypher within a blue and gilt oval cartouche, surmounted by a decorative ribbon bow.The porcelain is fitted with gilt-metal mounts and a hinged lid. The box is unmarked and the exact European manufactory is unknown. Its form and construction are characteristic of Continental porcelain snuff boxes produced during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.Dimensions:

Antique condition with age-related wear. The lid and its gilt-metal mount are detached from the porcelain body and require restoration/re-attachment. There is age-related wear to the gilding and painted decoration, together with wear and patination to the metal mounts. The underside displays substantial historic surface wear.
