A fully intact antique 4-gallon pump-type hand fire extinguisher manufactured by The Cincinnati Galvanizing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Dating to approximately the 1920s–1940s, this is a superb example of early American industrial fire safety equipment.
This type of pump-tank extinguisher was the workhorse of American factories, schools, and commercial buildings in the pre-war era — the operator pumped the wooden T-handle repeatedly to drive water through the hose and nozzle onto the fire. Replaced by pressurized canister extinguishers in the postwar period, surviving examples in this condition are increasingly scarce.
Complete & All-Original Components:
Galvanized steel conical tank body — 25" tall, 11" diameter
Full-length pump rod with original red-painted wood T-bar handle
Original rubber/canvas hose — full length, intact, coiled
Original brass hose fittings and flat paddle nozzle/applicator
Galvanized lid with original sliding bar locking mechanism
Four pressed carry handles at tank shoulder
Embossed UL certification nameplate
Very good antique condition. Tank body is structurally sound — galvanized finish shows natural oxidation and age patina throughout but no holes or major damage. Interior appears clean (see photo). Wooden handle retains original red paint traces — wood is weathered but solid. Hose is aged and stiff but intact and present. All components original and accounted for.
