Antique cast iron elephant mechanical doorstop featuring a detailed elephant with raised trunk standing on a decorative textured base. The piece has a folding/hinged support mechanism on the back that allows it to function as a doorstop.
Believed to date to approximately the early 20th century, likely 1920s–1930s. Heavy cast iron construction with an aged cream/white and dark painted finish. The elephant features molded details throughout, including tusks, ears, saddle blanket, curled tail, and raised trunk.
Measures approximately 12 inches long and 9 inches tall.
The piece shows substantial age-related surface wear, including paint loss, oxidation, discoloration, scratches, and general patina. The rear metal mechanism also shows oxidation consistent with age. No maker’s mark was found. The worn finish has been left untouched and the piece has not been repainted or restored.
