Antique cast metal inkwell, brass/bronze color, with a triangular base on small feet. It has a ram's head with curled horns at the center front, scroll and acanthus relief panels, and a leaf-pattern border. The domed, hinged lid has a pointed finial and leaf and scale decoration. The verdigris points to a copper alloy (brass/bronze); I have not tested the metal. Classical / Grand Tour style. No maker's mark seen.
Condition: Used, antique. NO glass or liner insert: the well is open. The underside of the lid and the rim of the well have green verdigris and old residue. The hinge works and the lid opens and closes. The outside has an even darkened patina with wear on the high points. I did not see breaks or missing parts on the feet or relief in my photos. Please see all photos.
Packed carefully with bubble wrap. Measurements available on request.
