Antique Bronze Bat Ashtray Poche Vide Dish Graphite Grey Patina Very Fine Cast For Sale

An antique bronze ashtray, poche vide, pin tray, or dish, in the shape of a bat on wing. Unmarked, but based on stylistic similarities, it is likely this tray was manufactured by Bradley & Hubbard of Meriden, CT, or P.E. Guerin of New York City during the final quarter of the nineteenth century. This particular bat ashtray is characterized by the fine detail of its casting and the delicate hand of its chasing. It also has a beautiful matte graphite grey-colored patina that seems especially appropriate for the coloring of a bat. Unsigned, but without a doubt the product of high caliber artists working in a topnotch foundry.
